17 Old Post Office Lane

This family photograph belonging to the Hancock family of Evesham is interesting because it shows the change that has taken place to a house in the last 100 years. The photo was taken on 21st September 1913, on the occasion of the baptism of Hubert George Willis. The house in question is situated in Old Post Office Lane, at what is believed to be the present-day No 17. The barn on the right is no longer there, and the house has been extended and the brick-work covered up, but the clue to the location is the archway that can just be seen on the left-hand side.

The people in the photograph are:
Back left to right: Elizabeth Willis (née Harris), Thomas Henry Willis, David John Harris;
Front left to right: Gwendoline Emma Willis, Known as "Granny" but name unknown, Hubert George Willis (the baby), Martha Harris (née Lampitt), Clarence Henry Willis.
