Poem by Harry Sadler
This poem was loaned by Audrey New (née Harrison), a music teacher of Badsey. Her former neighbour and contemporary, Harry Sadler (1916-2003), wrote the poem just a year or two before his death. Henry George Sadler was born on 11th November 1916. He attended Badsey Council School from 1920-1930. Although the poem was written in about the year 2000, he wrote "Claybrook 1939" at the bottom, because that was the year of his marriage and when he moved to Claybrook Nurseries, Bretforton Road, Badsey. He was a Market Gardener all his life.
Audrey loves the poem for its simplicity and sentiments and would love it to reach a wider audience in memory of a good man.
